Large-scale animal cases that involve seizures may seem like an overwhelming operation. Any law enforcement or animal control officer may find themselves daunted by what these cases will entail, but being prepared will help address the unexpected incidents likely to occur.

Shalimar Oliver is the Animal Crimes Manager for the Humane Society of the United States. She oversees puppy mill investigations and egregious cruelty cases including large-scale neglect and animal fighting. Shalimar is also a disaster responder and assists with rescues where animals have been impacted by hurricanes, floods and other natural events. Shalimar was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, where she worked at the Sydney RSPCA and an Australian wildlife park before becoming a senior Animal Control Officer for the County of San Diego.
